The minutes of the
previous meeting were accepted as presented.

Planting plan:
Cathy hasn’t been able to do the plan because she has not yet received
the necessary detail maps from DPW. She is thinking of doing a
handicapped-accessible wildlife garden related to the constructed
wetland. Once the plan is done, it will have to be reviewed by Park &
Rec. Cathy will try to get a meeting with John Sanchez; Leslie and
Elizabeth should attend if possible.
-
Cathy has obtained
a grant from the Arlington Arts Council for paintings to get inspiration
for the restoration; these will be exhibited in the fall. Jane
suggested an exhibition in connection with Town Meeting.
-
The Open Space
Committee has been working on management plans for Arlington’s main open
spaces. The plans are currently being edited. A draft is on the
Res website but it is obsolete; David will update it.
-
The Environment
Task Group and Standing Committee are presenting a warrant article for a
fund for maintenance of the Town’s water bodies. We have to
prepare to justify it before the Finance Committee and Town Meeting –
try to list past and projected expenses to show that sporadic crisis
management tends to be more expensive than ongoing maintenance.
-
The new Open Space
plan is due in late 2007; questions related to it may be included in
the January 2007 census survey.
-
The Spy Pond Committee meeting on Monday,
March 13 will feature a video on the preservation of the “Lost Pond
Sanctuary” on the Brookline/Newton border. It will be shown at 7:30
p.m. in the Robbins Library Community Room, and other environmental and
“Friends of” groups will be invited.
